The Gwangju Citizens and Social Organizations Federation (523 organizations, hereinafter referred to as the Citizens' Federation) stated on the 16th, "Gwangju Global Motors (GGM) is a company that has grown together with the citizens of Gwangju as a symbol of the win-win job model," and emphasized, "We must move towards a path of mutual cooperation rather than a strike."
On the same day, the Citizens' Federation held a press conference in front of the Citizens' Communication Office of the Gwangju City Council, saying, "Since July, GGM has been mass-producing electric vehicles, marking an important milestone for another leap forward, bringing expectations and hope to many citizens. However, the current situation, which is moving towards a strike, poses a serious threat to the success of the Gwangju-type job model."
They continued, "We urge both labor and management at GGM to resolve issues through mature dialogue and compromise based on the 'Labor-Management Win-Win Development Agreement.' The agreement is the social consensus foundation that allowed GGM to launch for regional job creation and economic revitalization, and adhering to it is the way to continue the success of the Gwangju-type job model."
They also pointed out, "The labor union should respect the spirit of the agreement while exercising their legitimate rights, and the management should seriously accept the workers' demands and present practical improvement plans. Now is the time to create an opportunity for GGM to take another step forward through cooperation, not conflict."
The Citizens' Federation added, "In a situation where the successful mass production and global export of the Casper electric vehicle are imminent, continued production stoppages and conflicts will only cause significant losses," and requested, "For GGM's sustainable and constructive growth, labor and management should make mutual concessions through dialogue and compromise and open a new path of win-win cooperation."
