Goseong County, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Ham Myeong-jun) announced on the 15th that it held the 'Hwajinpo National Marine Ecological Park Promotion Planning Team Launch Ceremony' on the 14th at the Goseong County Office large conference room to actively promote the establishment of Hwajinpo National Marine Ecological Park, which can realize both marine ecological resource conservation and sustainable development.

The promotion planning team will establish the basic plan and promotion strategy for Hwajinpo National Marine Ecological Park and make full preparations to develop Goseong County into a global marine ecological tourism city.
The planning team is organized with the Director of the Tourism Economy Bureau as the head and consists of about seven related department heads, including the Tourism Culture Division, Investment Attraction Division, Economic Sports Division, Construction and Urban Division, Forestry Division, Marine Fisheries Division, and Environment Division. They will hold regular meetings at least once a month to comprehensively manage measures for promoting Hwajinpo National Marine Ecological Park. In addition, a practical promotion task force (TF) will be operated within the planning team on a regular basis to create a blueprint for practical promotion plans and provide operational support to the planning team.
The National Marine Ecological Park is a space directly created by the state in coastal areas with excellent marine ecosystems, scenic value, and outstanding cultural and historical heritage, where marine ecological services can be enjoyed. Goseong County, Gangwon Province, plans to establish a national marine ecological park with a total project cost of 200 billion KRW in Hwajinpo, the largest lagoon in Korea adjacent to the East Sea, which has outstanding ecological scenery, abundant marine biological resources, and historical and cultural relics such as dolmens. This project is expected to generate an economic ripple effect of over 600 billion KRW and create employment for more than 2,000 people through national funding.

Ham Myeong-jun, Governor of Goseong County, emphasized, “Hwajinpo National Marine Ecological Park will be a premium marine ecological space where the sea, lagoon, humanities, and history harmonize, leading the marine tourism industry in the East Coast era and creating new growth engines for Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.” He expressed his determination by stating, “Goseong County will launch the promotion planning team and work closely with the province to ensure thorough preparation.”
