Gwangju Sustainable Development Council Successfully Completes Sustainable Picture Book Art Education
The Gwangju Sustainable Development Council is conducting the 'Sustainable Picture Book Art Education' in collaboration with the Wonju Picture Book Center's Everyday Art.
The Gwangju-si Sustainable Development Council in Gyeonggi Province hosted, in collaboration with the Wonju Picture Book Center's Daily Art, the 'Sustainable Picture Book Art Education,' which concluded successfully.
According to the city on the 14th, the education program consisted of a total of three sessions, aiming to expand participants' awareness by rediscovering the power and social value of picture books and understanding and reflecting on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In particular, Lee Sang-hee, director of the Wonju Picture Book Center, participated as an instructor, spending meaningful time with Gwangju citizens interested in sustainable development.
In the first session, the power of picture books to act as everyday artworks for all ages was examined, while in the second and third sessions, participants considered how the 17 Sustainable Development Goals could be applied to life through picture books.
In the final third session, participants expressed their own sustainable development goals through picture books, strengthening their commitment to sustainability practice.

Jung Chang-woo, the executive chairman of the Gwangju-si Sustainable Development Council, said, "Through this picture book art education, it was a meaningful time to think together about how the Sustainable Development Goals can be realized in our daily lives beyond just a simple concept," and added, "We will continue to prepare various education programs and initiatives so that citizens can easily understand and practice sustainable development."
