Mapo-gu Family Love Camp Mudflat Experience

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) conducted the ‘1st Let’s Go Camping with Mom and Dad, Mapo-gu Family Love Camp’ program for one night and two days starting from October 11 in Yeongheung-myeon, Ongjin-gun, Incheon Metropolitan City.

This camp, under the theme ‘Let’s Go Camping with Mom and Dad in Autumn,’ was an event prepared by Mapo-gu to allow families to communicate and strengthen their bonds together in nature away from the city.

In September, Mapo-gu accepted applications for the camping program, and with 302 applicants for 80 spots, it concluded successfully with a final competition rate of 3.8:1.

On the first day of the program, October 11, families arriving at the campsite eagerly set up their tents for an overnight stay, heightening the excitement of camping. In the afternoon, a family sports day and recreation activities were held, where participants enjoyed various sports and games, creating happy memories.

Especially during the recreation time, when Mapo-gu secretly prepared and played video letters from spouses, surprise calls, and interview videos of participating youths, many participants were moved to tears, once again feeling the preciousness of family.

Afterwards, participants returned to their tents, lit campfires, and openly shared their hearts, nurturing family love.

On the last day of camping, October 12, participants concluded the camp with a ‘Mudflat Experience Enjoyed in Nature,’ where they directly observed various marine creatures and learned about the ecosystem.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “We prepared this camping program so families could sincerely talk with each other, overcoming the usual awkwardness, and spend precious time in beautiful nature. Mapo-gu will work even harder for the happiness of our Mapo families.”
