On the 11th, the Pohang Small Giant Special Zone Promotion Center held the '2024 Energy Small Giant Special Zone Joint Investment Consultation Meeting' at COEX in Seoul.

In particular, the event focused on strengthening one-on-one matching consultations between startups and VCs to promote practical investment attraction. Investors gained a deeper understanding of each company's technological capabilities, while startups were able to expand their opportunities for investment and networking, receiving positive feedback.
Among the ten participating companies, Pohang-based companies included Foremco, an eco-friendly company developing rare metal extraction and materials, parts, and equipment products using by-products from steel mills, and HabaLab, the 35th research institute company in Pohang, which is working on domestic production of EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) light sources and measurement and evaluation equipment. These companies showcased their outstanding technologies at the investment consultation meeting.
Additionally, in conjunction with the “Digital Innovation Festa 2024” hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, which featured 350 participating companies, 500 booths, and approximately 30,000 visitors, the event also provided a venue for promoting the cluster, attracting other companies to Pohang, and exhibiting promising companies within the cluster to promote their technologies and products.
The Energy Innovation Cluster Council was established in November 2022 to build a collaborative support network specializing in the energy sector. Five innovation clusters?Pohang (POSTECH), Gumi (Kumoh National Institute of Technology), Naju (Korea Electric Power Corporation), Ulju (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology), and Changwon (Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute)?have been working together to promote various collaborative projects.
Notably, in October last year, the “Energy Innovation Cluster Investment Briefing Session” was held, resulting in 30 one-on-one investment consultations with major corporations, financial institutions, and investors, four follow-up meetings, and three successful investment attractions.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok said, “I hope this event will serve as an important opportunity for innovative companies leading the energy industry to secure more investment opportunities and enhance their competitiveness in the global market. We will continue to actively support investment attraction activities and global expansion cooperation for outstanding local companies.”
