Gyeonggi-do to Host Welcome Event for Paris Paralympics Athletes at Dodamso on the 11th

View original imageOn the 11th, Gyeonggi Province held a welcoming event at Dodamso (the former Gyeonggi Province Governor's residence) to honor the athletes who represented South Korea and Gyeonggi Province at the 17th Paris Paralympics.
At the welcoming ceremony, Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon expressed, "Watching your performances, I felt a deep respect, thinking that you have reached a state where you experience the beauty of life through sports or work," and added, "Thank you for inspiring our residents with your indomitable spirit, giving them hope and courage."
The ceremony was attended by over 30 people, including medalists such as Yoon Ji-yoo (silver medal in women's singles and women's doubles table tennis), Jeong Seong-jun (silver medal in boccia individual event), Seo Hoon-tae (bronze medal in shooting), as well as athletes and coaches.
Gyeonggi Province will award prize money totaling approximately 40 million KRW to the medal-winning athletes and coaches according to regulations: 10 million KRW for gold medalists, 7 million KRW for silver medalists, and 5 million KRW for bronze medalists.
During the event, Gyeonggi Province also shared the journeys and achievements of the medalists who have special backgrounds and stories.

Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Province team will participate in the ‘44th National Disabled Sports Festival’ held from the 25th to the 30th of this month in Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province. This year’s event features 31 sports, including athletics, with about 940 athletes and officials participating. Gyeonggi Province achieved its third consecutive overall championship last year.
