NH Nonghyup Bank announced on the 9th that it filed a criminal complaint after discovering a suspicious case during its internal audit of the appropriateness of real estate mortgage loans.
On the same day, NH Nonghyup Bank stated through a financial accident disclosure that it had filed a complaint with investigative authorities against the borrower involved in the problematic real estate mortgage loan on charges of fraud. The amount involved is 14 billion KRW, the incident period spans from April 2021 to the present, and the estimated loss amount is yet to be determined.
The bank explained that during the internal audit process, it identified suspicious transactions between the seller and buyer of the real estate after the loan was executed and took subsequent measures.
