Busan Transportation Corporation Holds 'Pink Light' Event to Promote Consideration for Pregnant Women
Joint Campaign with the City from the 10th to the 31st for 'Pregnant Women's Day'
Online Missions and Promotion of Urban Railway Priority Seats for Pregnant Women to Encourage Citizen Participation
Busan Transportation Corporation, in collaboration with Busan City, will hold an online event from the 10th to the 31st of this month to promote a culture of consideration for pregnant women in celebration of 'Pregnant Women's Day' on the 10th.
This event is conducted online and is open to everyone. It consists of two missions, including promoting the 'Pink Light' notification system for pregnant women priority seats in the metro and installing the Pink Light mobile app.
The first mission, 'Find Pink Light in the Metro!', allows participation by downloading the Pink Light mobile app and uploading a photo of the Pink Light device in the metro to personal social media with the required tags.
The second mission, 'Challenge! Pink Light App Rating & Review', involves downloading the mobile app and leaving a rating and review.
Participants who complete the missions and submit their responses via the QR code on the event poster will be entered into a draw to win Busan Metro mobile tickets or beverage vouchers.
Further details can be found on the corporation's website and the Busan City 'Like You, Cherished' website.
Additionally, the corporation will conduct an offline promotional campaign for pregnant women attending the '19th Pregnant Women's Day Commemorative Event', which is jointly hosted by Busan City and the Busan branch of the Planned Population Federation of Korea, to help establish and spread a culture of consideration for pregnant women.
Since 2017, the corporation and Busan City have been leading the way in establishing a culture of consideration for pregnant women in the metro by introducing Pink Light, the first of its kind among urban rail operators in Korea. In May of this year, they also launched the nation's first Pink Light mobile app for pregnant women priority seat notification.
Previously, pregnant women had to visit a public health center or station safety office to receive a transmitter to use Pink Light. Now, by installing the mobile app and completing a one-time identity verification, they can use Pink Light for up to six months after childbirth.
Pink Light is a system where, when a pregnant woman approaches a priority seat and activates the Pink Light mobile app, the device syncs and a sound and light signal from the receiver installed at the seat encourages others to offer the seat.
