Hyosung Completes First Large-Capacity Liquefied Hydrogen Refueling Station in Gwangyang
Hyosung Hydrogen Expands Liquefied Hydrogen Refueling Facilities
Capable of Refueling Over 150 Hydrogen Buses per Day
Hyosung has completed its first large-capacity liquefied hydrogen refueling station and is expanding its liquefied hydrogen refueling infrastructure.
Hyosung Hydrogen, a subsidiary of Hyosung Heavy Industries, held a completion ceremony for the 'Gwangyang Chonam Liquefied Hydrogen Refueling Station' in Gwangyang, Jeonnam, on the 7th. This is Hyosung Hydrogen's first liquefied hydrogen refueling station and the first in the Jeonnam region. Key officials attending the ceremony included Lee Man-seop, CEO of Hyosung Hydrogen; Woo Tae-hee, CEO of Hyosung Heavy Industries; Jung Sung-wook, CEO of Linde Hydrogen Energy; Park Chang-hwan, Vice Governor of Jeollanam-do; Kim Young-woo, Director of Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office; and Jung In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang.

After Hyosung Hydrogen was selected as the project recipient in the Ministry of Environment's hydrogen refueling station public offering project in 2022, construction began in September last year and the facility was completed this year.
Gwangyang, Jeonnam, is expanding its hydrogen vehicle distribution project, starting with the operation of its first hydrogen buses in April. With the completion of this refueling station, stable operation of hydrogen buses currently running in Gwangyang City is expected.
Liquefied hydrogen is cooled to minus 253 degrees Celsius from gaseous hydrogen, reducing its volume to about 1/800 compared to gaseous hydrogen, making storage and transportation easier. The refueling speed is also more than three times faster, reducing refueling time for large hydrogen vehicles such as buses and trucks.
Hyosung Hydrogen is a liquefied hydrogen sales company jointly established in 2021 by Hyosung Heavy Industries, which holds the number one market share in the domestic hydrogen refueling system market, and Linde, a global gas and chemical specialist company. It sells liquefied hydrogen produced by Linde Hydrogen Energy.

CEO Lee Man-seop said, "This is the first result after announcing our hydrogen business vision," adding, "In line with the government's plan to distribute 300,000 hydrogen vehicles by 2030, we plan to build about 20 additional liquefied hydrogen refueling stations, including eight whose construction has already been confirmed."
