[2024 National Audit] Political Affairs Committee Summons Kim Daenam... Opposition Demands Full Investigation of Public Institution Executives
Opposition members of the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee demanded the attendance of former Presidential Office administrator Kim Dae-nam, who is suspected of involvement in the so-called 'attack order' and parachute appointments in public enterprises, at the national audit.
On the 7th, the Political Affairs Committee held a national audit targeting the Office for Government Policy Coordination and the Prime Minister's Secretariat in the National Assembly main building, during which they requested the adoption of Kim as a witness. Kim was recently appointed as a standing auditor at SGI Seoul Guarantee Insurance but reportedly resigned on the same day. Earlier, two weeks before the People Power Party's convention in July, he conveyed on a YouTube channel that "(Representative Han) was scheming to become president since the emergency committee period."
Democratic Party lawmaker Park Sang-hyuk said, "There have been reports that Auditor Kim recently resigned from his position," adding, "It seems the Presidential Office pressured him to resign. We need to clarify how he was appointed as a standing auditor and why he resigned. I ask the ruling and opposition party secretaries to agree on adopting him as a witness."
From the same party, lawmaker Lee Kang-il pointed out regarding former administrator Kim, "Since he is the person overseeing practical and organizational management, it is very difficult for the First Lady not to know about this," adding, "The annual salary for a standing auditor at Seoul Guarantee Insurance is 300 million won. This is not a position an ordinary administrator can easily obtain."
He further stated, "If a non-expert and someone from a construction company has gone to a public institution executive position, there is a need to conduct a full investigation into whether there are more such cases regarding public institution executives."

The standing auditor is appointed through a shareholders' meeting, but on July 29, the Deposit Insurance Corporation already approved the standing auditor by written resolution. Does this process make any sense?"

The ruling party launched an offensive against former Presidential Chief of Staff Lim Jong-seok, who mentioned the theory of two states. People Power Party lawmaker Kim Jae-seop said, "I was truly speechless and dumbfounded when former Chief Lim talked about the two-state theory," adding, "This institution (the Foundation for Inter-Korean Economic and Cultural Cooperation), which receives exclusive and exclusive rights from the state and collects copyright fees from the citizens of the Republic of Korea, looks like former Chief Lim's private organization."
