Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 7th that it will hold the "2024 Starlight Milky Way Art Campaign" at the Jeongok Prehistoric Museum and Yeoncheon Jeongok-ri Site from 5 PM to 10 PM on the 12th.
Yeoncheon-gun, designated as both a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and a Global Geopark, is celebrating the 5th and 4th anniversaries of these designations respectively. In collaboration with Gyeonggi Province, the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, and the Jeongok Prehistoric Museum, they have prepared the "UNESCO Multi-Designated Area Yeoncheon Starlight Milky Way Art Campaign for Future Generations."
This event is part of the 2024 Gyeonggi Cultural Arts Network Cooperation Support Project and a follow-up to last year's "Star Shadow Festival." Various free activities related to astronomy observation and constellation crafts will be offered.
Astronomy observation will be conducted on the lawn of the Jeongok-ri Site following indoor lectures by teachers from the "Earth Science Outdoor Learning Research Association." It will be held eight times in total, with 50 participants each session, from 6 PM to 10 PM. The craft activities will run from 5 PM to 9 PM and include four types: "Prehistoric Era, My Own Constellation Doll," "Squishy Coffee Grounds Constellation Keyring," "Star Shadow Mood Light That Guards the Night," and "Birth Constellation Basalt Keyring Making," also held eight times in total.
Craft activities require advance registration through the Eventus website by the 10th, while astronomy observation will accept on-site registration. For more details about the event, inquiries can be made to the operation office.
