"Buy 5,000 Won Snacks, Get Free Beer"… 'Yeongmaek Festival' at Yeongdong Traditional Market
Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the "3rd Yeongmaek Festival," where Yeongdong Traditional Market transforms into a night market, on the 10th from 3 PM to 8 PM.
First launched last September to revitalize traditional markets, the Yeongmaek Festival received great response and was selected again this year as part of Seoul City's traditional market event projects. The name "Yeongmaek Festival" is a combination of Yeongdong Traditional Market and beer (maekju), while also representing the "Young" generation. It signifies the intention to develop the traditional market into a hot place frequented by young people to boost the commercial district.
At the night market starting from 4 PM, over 50 varieties of diverse foods developed by the merchants' association will be sold, including yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), fried crackers, tteokbokki, kimchi pancakes, and Thai-style skewers. Customers who purchase food worth more than 5,000 won will receive free beer. A garden planted with chrysanthemums will be created, with chairs placed in front to allow visitors to enjoy beer while feeling the camping atmosphere.
At 3 PM, a one-hour performance will be held on a stage set up next to Daiso inside the market. Fifty tables and 300 chairs will be arranged from the stage up to 100 meters to enable visitors to comfortably enjoy their food.
