Uljugun to Provide Free Influenza Vaccinations for All Residents
From This Year, Ulsan's First Residents Aged 14 to 64
Ulsan Ulju County announced on the 4th that it will be the first in the region to provide free influenza (flu) vaccinations to all residents.
This free vaccination program was initiated to enhance the immunity of Ulju residents against the influenza virus and support healthy daily life.
Previously, the national vaccination program only provided free influenza shots to seniors aged 65 and older. However, since last year, Ulju County has expanded the eligibility to include high-risk age groups vulnerable to respiratory infections and school-aged adolescents.
This year, the program will further extend support to Ulju residents aged 14 to 64, who were previously excluded from the national vaccination program. Eligible residents can receive the vaccination at designated medical institutions and public health centers in Ulju County starting from the 14th of this month until supplies run out.
Through the national vaccination program, Ulju County has been providing first-time vaccinations to children aged 6 months to under 8 years since the 20th of last month. This month, vaccinations will begin for the following groups: children aged 6 months to 13 years (single dose) and pregnant women from the 2nd; those aged 75 and older from the 11th; those aged 70 to 74 from the 15th; and those aged 65 to 69 from the 18th.
Ulju residents wishing to receive the influenza vaccination should visit a nearby designated hospital or public health center with identification and proof of residency, according to their respective vaccination schedule.
The flu season runs from November to April of the following year. Considering the two-week period needed for immunity to develop and the six-month duration of vaccine effectiveness, it is recommended to get vaccinated between October and December.
