Prosecutors Seek 8-Year Prison Sentence for Man in His 40s Attempting to Kidnap Woman at Jamsil Baseball Stadium
Prosecutors have demanded an 8-year prison sentence for a man in his 40s who attempted to kidnap a woman he did not know at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul.
On the 2nd, the prosecution made this request to the court during the sentencing hearing for Won (47) at the Seoul Eastern District Court Criminal Division 11 (Presiding Judge Kang Min-ho), on charges including attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Won said, "I was penniless because I couldn't return to work and had no money, so I couldn't see my children," and added, "I am sorry to the victim and ask for forgiveness just this once."
Won is accused of attempting to kidnap an unknown woman by covering her mouth in the parking lot of Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, around 9:30 p.m. on August 10, taking advantage of the crowd after the game ended. At the time, the victim strongly resisted, and Won fled the scene but was caught by the police eight days later.
Investigations revealed that Won planned the crime in advance, preparing a stun gun to secure living expenses while homeless.
