Namyangju-si Selected for 2025 Smart Village Distribution and Expansion Project Competition
Secured 980 Million KRW in National Funds... Establishing Linked Spaces for Digital Technology and Public Health Center Care Programs
Mayor Joo Gwang-deok: "We Will Strive to Improve Seniors' Health, Bridge the Digital Divide, and Enhance Quality of Life"
Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 30th that it secured 980 million KRW in national funding after receiving an A grade in the ‘2025 Smart Village Distribution and Expansion Project’ competition hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Previously, the city proposed the ‘Smart Senior Center Construction’ project, which links information and communication technology (ICT) with health care programs from public health centers at existing senior centers.
The project includes △building a ‘Senior Center Specialized Remote Healthcare System’ that connects remote video systems with elderly health promotion services △providing a ‘Group-type Non-face-to-face Leisure Education Service’ that allows seniors to communicate through senior centers △establishing a ‘Smart Senior Center Safety System’ that offers emergency reporting services based on smart address information facilities in case of emergencies.
Next year, the city plans to select senior centers within the jurisdiction to build an online network using ICT technology, providing various health, welfare, and cultural services without spatial or temporal constraints. Through this, seniors will be able to receive diverse and convenient services at senior centers without visiting senior welfare centers or public health centers.
