Busan Urban Corporation Distributes Fire-Blanket Covers for Public Rental Apartments to Prepare for Electric Vehicle Fires
Fire Preparedness Following Mandatory Installation of EV Charging Facilities
Efforts to Improve Living Environment and Ensure Safety for Residents
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) announced on the 25th that it will provide fire-suffocating blankets for electric vehicle fires at rental apartments under its management.
BMC plans to purchase and distribute these fire-suffocating blankets to 19 rental apartment complexes in response to growing public anxiety following a series of electric vehicle fire incidents, including the recent electric vehicle fire in Cheongna-dong, Incheon. The aim is to help extinguish electric vehicle fires and prevent their spread.
The fire-suffocating blanket is a device used to cover the entire vehicle in the event of a fire, cutting off oxygen to assist with initial suppression and minimizing damage by preventing the fire from spreading to nearby vehicles.
To improve the residential welfare of public rental apartment residents, BMC will also newly install electric vehicle charging facilities at 12 complexes this year.
