Bucheon-si Resident Participatory Budget Proposal Project Review... First Implementation of Online Resident Voting
Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province will conduct an online resident vote from the 25th of this month until the 11th of next month to select proposed projects for the '2025 Resident Participatory Budget.'
The city introduced online project proposals and resident voting functions for the first time this year to enhance accessibility and convenience, aiming to promote projects closely related to residents' daily lives by gathering more residents' opinions.
Since April, the city has been conducting a project proposal process, receiving a total of 53 proposals: 11 online submissions and 42 decided through resident general meetings at local district meetings. These proposals underwent a review process by the relevant departments until last month. This online resident vote targets 51 proposals, excluding 2 disqualified projects that did not align with the purpose of the proposed projects.
Voting is open to Bucheon residents, employees of businesses located in the city, and students attending schools within the area. Participants can access the Resident e-Participation website (pb.lofin365.go.kr), verify their identity, and select up to three preferred projects to vote for.
The proposed projects will be selected within the budget limit (approximately 1 billion KRW) based on the combined scores of the resident vote (40%) and the review by the Resident Participatory Budget Committee (subcommittee) (60%), ranked by highest scores. The final selection will be confirmed as the 2025 Resident Participatory Budget after approval by the city council in December.
