Mayor Lee explained to the lawmakers the major current projects being promoted in Gyeryong City, including attracting defense-related public institutions and constructing the National Military Museum.
In particular, he emphasized the promotion of projects that highlight Gyeryong City's characteristics and identity as the capital of national defense, such as establishing the Armed Forces Medical Academy, building the National Military Museum, and constructing the K-Defense Convention Center, to achieve balanced regional development and create jobs.
Mayor Lee stated, “Although local finances are facing difficulties such as reductions in local allocation tax due to decreased national tax revenue, we plan to break through by actively securing government funds. We will actively explain the necessity and justification of the projects being promoted by the city to the National Assembly, central government, and Chungnam Province to ensure they proceed as planned.”
Meanwhile, the city has actively secured government funding for public contest projects and other initiatives to ensure stable local financial management, achieving a record-high government budget of 158.2 billion won, including 80 billion won for public contest projects, by the third quarter of 2024.
