"AI Robot Peels Potatoes"... Ourhome Strengthens Food Tech Capabilities
Participation in Government-Led Research Project... Development of AI Potato Peeling Robot
Research and Development Until Late 2027... Commercialization Plans to Be Reviewed Thereafter
Ourhome is collaborating with the government and robotics specialists to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-based 'potato peeling robot.'
On the 25th, Ourhome announced that on the 24th, it signed a memorandum of understanding for 'joint research and development in the food tech new industry sector' with Brils, a robot manufacturing specialist company, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and the Korea Food Research Institute to develop an AI-based potato peeling robot.

Ourhome joined this national project to improve the efficiency of food material distribution and management, such as reducing agricultural product waste rates and labor costs. Starting with this memorandum of understanding, Ourhome will develop an AI-based potato peeling robot together with Brils, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and the Korea Food Research Institute. The research period is about four years until the end of 2027, after which commercialization plans will be reviewed.
The existing potato peeling process, from raw material washing to peeling, has been done manually, but introducing an automated agricultural product peeling robot is effective in reducing labor hours, decreasing agricultural product waste rates, and improving product quality. In particular, as Ourhome sees increasing preference for customized, simplified convenient food materials for kitchen operation efficiency, introducing a peeling robot is expected to enhance productivity as well as provide agricultural products with hygiene and top quality, thereby increasing competitiveness in food material distribution.
