Goyang-si Operates Car-Free Streets... "Please Yield Roads to Pedestrians"

Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 24th that it will operate a car-free street for 7 hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 28th along a 350-meter road section between Baekyang Elementary and Middle Schools in Hwajeong-dong and Okbit Village Complexes 12 and 13.
The 'Goyang City Car-Free Street' will be held twice this year on the fourth Saturdays of September and October, specifically on September 28 and October 26.
Road closure will begin at 10 a.m. on the day, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., various carbon neutrality experience booths, flea markets, and cultural performances will take place on the road for four hours.
Lee Sung-woo, Director of the Environmental Policy Division, said, "We hope this event will raise awareness about carbon neutrality and pedestrian culture, and we will continue to make efforts for our city to become a carbon-neutral city."

Meanwhile, the 'Goyang City Car-Free Street' has been operated since 2021 and is now in its fourth year, establishing itself as a citizen-participatory carbon neutrality project in Goyang City.
