170,000 Dobong District Residents Sign Petition; ‘Kukkiwon Dobong Relocation’ Prayer Walking Event Successfully Concluded
Dobong-gu Hosts 'Gukkiwon Dobong-gu Relocation Hope Seoul Citizens Walking Contest'
About 1,500 Residents and Sports Club Members Participate, Walking Approximately 4.8km to Support Gukkiwon's Relocation to Dobong-gu
Over 1,500 people gathered along the Jungnangcheon Stream behind Dobong-gu Office. They came to participate in the "Seoul Citizens' Walking Rally to Support the Relocation of Kukkiwon to Dobong-gu." On this day, they each held signs such as "Kukkiwon to Dobong-gu!" and "Dobong-gu, the Holy Land of Taekwondo," expressing their hopes for the relocation of Kukkiwon to Dobong-gu.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it held the "Seoul Citizens' Walking Rally to Support the Relocation of Kukkiwon to Dobong-gu" on September 21. Hosted and organized by the Dobong-gu Sports Council, this walking rally was promoted to raise awareness internally and externally about the necessity and importance of relocating Kukkiwon to Dobong-gu.
Despite the rainy and inclement weather, about 1,500 residents and amateur sports enthusiasts participated in the walking rally. On this day, they walked approximately 4.8 km round trip along the Jungnangcheon Stream in front of Dobongseowon Apartment to the site proposed for Kukkiwon’s relocation (the former Chemical Unit base), praying for the relocation.
Mr. Kim ○○, who participated in the walking rally with his child, said, "Dobong-gu, with its pristine nature and convenient transportation, is the optimal site for Kukkiwon’s relocation. I hope the wishes of the residents will surely come true."
Park Sang-yong, president of the Dobong-gu Sports Council and the rally leader, said, "I thank all the residents who participated today to support the relocation of Kukkiwon to Dobong-gu. We ask for continued support and encouragement until the final relocation is completed."

Oh Eon-seok, mayor of Dobong-gu, expressed strong determination, saying, "The development of the former Chemical Unit site in Dobong-dong is a very important task for the district’s progress. I will devote all my efforts to the relocation of Kukkiwon during the remainder of my term."
Earlier, the district launched a signature campaign involving all residents to support the relocation of Kukkiwon to Dobong-gu. The campaign ran for about a month from July 25 to August 23, collecting a total of 168,282 signatures. Then, on September 3, representatives visited the National Assembly and handed over the petition to Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, requesting the Ministry’s active cooperation on issues such as the construction costs for Kukkiwon.
