Busan Transportation Corporation Completes Installation of 'Station Name Guide Signs' on Platform Screen Doors at All Stations
Arrival Station Now Visible Through Train Windows... Enhancing Passenger Convenience and Safety
Integrated Design for Platform Screen Door Safety Signs Improves Visibility
Busan Transportation Corporation has completed the installation of station name guide signs on a total of 9,728 platform screen doors at all stations to enhance passenger convenience and safety.
Until now, arrival stations have been announced through in-train announcements and destination display boards. However, some passengers have missed their stops when they could not hear the announcements or had difficulty checking the display boards due to their location.
To address these inconveniences, station name guide signs have been attached to platform screen doors so passengers can intuitively identify the current station through the train window.
The corporation developed the design of the platform screen door guide signs from a universal design perspective.
Since passengers view the guide signs through both the platform screen doors and train windows, brightness contrast was used to ensure visibility. Additionally, considering that train window sizes differ by line, the station names are repeatedly displayed on the signs and auxiliary notations are placed on the borders to make the station names easily visible.
Notably, the guide signs display not only the Korean station names but also the station numbers and English station names, allowing foreign passengers to easily recognize them.
On the platform side, an integrated design was adopted using pictograms to convey information such as seats for passengers with special needs, mildly air-conditioned cars, and safety notices about gaps and finger entrapment, making the information easily understandable for everyone.
Emergency evacuation instructions for the platform screen doors are also included on the guide signs, providing clear information in case of emergencies.
