Professor Cho Youngheum of Yeungnam University Department of Architecture Receives Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award for Contributions to Green Building Market Revitalization
Professor Jo Youngheum of the Department of Architecture at Yeungnam University (President Choi Oechul) was announced on the 19th to have received a commendation from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in the Green Building Market Activation category at the "2024 Green Building Hanmadang," hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by the Korea Energy Agency, in recognition of his contributions to the promotion of green building policies, technologies, and market activation.
Professor Jo Youngheum, an expert in building operation and maintenance both domestically and internationally, has led research related to green buildings and participated as a member of the Green Building Energy Evaluator Qualification Exam Committee, thereby contributing to the activation of the green building market. He also participated in establishing the green building design standards and green building development plans for Daegu City, contributing to the activation of local green building policies. Through the cultivation of professionals in eco-friendly and green building fields, he has acquired advanced overseas technologies and devoted himself to research, fostering globally competitive talent and taking the lead in revitalizing the green building market.
Professor Jo has also made significant contributions to the advancement of building environment and facilities technology both in Korea and internationally through his activities as an executive member of various academic societies, including the Architectural Institute of Korea and the Korean Institute of Architectural Sustainable Environment and Building Systems, as well as through participation in national research projects, serving as an ISO (International Organization for Standardization) committee member, and working as an editorial board member for international academic journals.
