All 19 Events Showcase Fierce Competition... After 3rd Place in 2022 and 2nd in 2023, Achieves Top Spot in Third Participation
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) achieved the great feat of winning the overall championship at the ‘2024 Seoul Metropolitan Disabled Sports for All Competition’ hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Disabled Sports Association on the 11th.
This competition has been held since 2007 with the goal of promoting disabled sports for all and realizing sports welfare for the disabled, and it has now established itself as one of Seoul’s representative tournaments.
This year, about 5,000 athletes from 25 autonomous districts of Seoul participated at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium, competing in a district-based team competition.
On the day, the district sent a delegation of 165 athletes, composed of both disabled and non-disabled members centered around the Jungnang-gu Disabled Sports Association, participating in all 19 events. The events included ▲6 club events (Park Golf, Boccia, Indoor Rowing, Soccer, Basketball, Hangung) ▲4 harmony events (Shulrun, Curling, Tug of War, Screen Shooting) ▲9 experience events (8 new sports, Sports Stacking).
The participating team achieved 2nd place in the physically disabled doubles category and 1st place in the integrated mixed four-person category in indoor rowing, 3rd place in Boccia, 3rd place in basketball, and 2nd place in the non-disabled division of soccer. They also contributed to the overall championship by earning 2nd place in screen shooting among the harmony events and showing excellent results in other events.
Since the establishment of the Jungnang-gu Disabled Sports Association and participating in three Seoul Metropolitan Disabled Sports for All Competitions, Jungnang-gu has achieved a remarkable record by rising to the top position this year for the first time after placing 3rd in 2022 and 2nd last year.
