Sharp Drop in Deaths and Crime Reports
During this year’s Chuseok holiday period, traffic accidents decreased by 44.8% and fatalities by 46.4% compared to the previous year.
According to the National Police Agency on the 18th, as a result of special security activities during the Chuseok holiday, traffic accidents decreased by 44.8%, fatalities by 46.4%, and crime reports by 0.64%. This outcome was achieved by enhancing highway safety measures for large group vehicles before the holiday, strengthening management of crowded places such as traditional markets, concentrating traffic police on the routes to and from hometown visits during the holiday, and providing real-time traffic information to maintain smooth vehicle flow.
The police focused on ▲pre-inspection of crime-vulnerable factors ▲strengthening visible patrols in vulnerable areas ▲rapid situation management ▲safety management in mass gathering situations ▲strict response to crimes targeting socially vulnerable groups ▲ensuring smooth vehicle traffic and driver safety during this Chuseok holiday.
