During the election period, A reported to the commission that election staff were given non-statutory allowances of 20,000 won per person and provided with food, which constitutes a violation.
Based on the report, the commission conducted a full investigation of all election staff, confirmed the illegal activities, and on August 1, filed a complaint with the Daejeon District Prosecutors’ Office against eight individuals, including the candidate, on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act and the Political Funds Act.
This reward is the first to be granted in the Daejeon area this year.
A commission official stated, "Acts of bribery and illegal donations, such as the provision of money or goods, are serious election crimes that are carried out meticulously and covertly. We urge voters to actively report and provide information to help establish a fair election order."
