Cheonan Guseongcheon and Aunae Districts to Spend 58 Billion Won to Prevent Frequent Flooding

Secures 58 Billion KRW in National and Provincial Funding... Project Completion Scheduled for December 2028
A large-scale maintenance project will be carried out for Guseongcheon and Aunae District, which are representative areas in Cheonan, Chungnam Province, that are frequently affected by flooding.
According to the city on the 13th, Guseongcheon and Aunae Districts have been selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project, securing a total of 58.05 billion KRW in national and provincial funding.
Guseongcheon and Aunae Districts are areas that suffer from frequent flooding due to poor drainage during heavy rainfall, and fundamental countermeasures are required.
With the selection of this project, Cheonan City plans to invest a total of 46 billion KRW in the Guseongcheon District?23 billion KRW from the national government, 11.5 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 11.5 billion KRW from the city?to reconstruct 11 bridges and improve 2.9 km of Guseong small streams and small public facilities as part of disaster prevention efforts.
In addition, a total of 31.4 billion KRW?15.7 billion KRW from the national government, 7.85 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 7.85 billion KRW from the city?will be invested in the Aunae District to improve 2.46 km of stormwater pipelines and construct a new drainage pumping station.
The city plans to begin basic and detailed design services next year and complete construction by December 2028.
A city official stated, "We expect this maintenance project to greatly contribute to resolving the chronic flooding in Guseongcheon and Aunae Districts," adding, "We will protect citizens' lives and property from natural disaster risks and improve the quality of life for our residents."
