Police Agency Issues Chuseok Holiday Financial Fraud Alert... "Investment Chat Rooms and Voice Phishing Are Serious"
The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters announced on the 13th that investment leading rooms and voice phishing incidents are occurring at a serious level, and special attention must be paid to preventing financial fraud during the Chuseok holiday.
According to the National Police Agency, the average monthly number and amount of damages from investment leading rooms are 768 cases and 66.8 billion KRW, voice phishing is 1,676 cases and 55.8 billion KRW, and romance scams are 131 cases and 7.8 billion KRW.
Recent scams are very sophisticated, so anyone can become a victim regardless of gender, age group, or occupation. Although there are various types of fraud, generally, scammers approach victims by sending bait messages and then proceed to defraud money and assets, so caution is necessary.
