US and UK Foreign Ministers Visit Ukraine... Interest in Allowing 'Long-Range Missiles'

The United States, the United Kingdom, and others have begun reviewing whether to allow Ukraine to strike Russia with Western long-range missiles.

On the 11th (local time), U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken and U.K. Foreign Secretary David Lammy arrived in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, in the morning and are scheduled to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky and other senior Ukrainian officials to discuss issues related to weapon usage restrictions.

So far, Ukraine has requested approval from Western allies to use long-range weapons to attack targets within Russia.

However, the United States has opposed targeting Russia's rear positions with long-range weapons due to the potential risk of triggering direct military conflict between the West and Russia.

Recently, a shift in attitude has been detected. U.S. President Joe Biden said at the White House the day before, when asked whether restrictions on Ukraine's use of long-range weapons would be maintained, "We are working that out right now."

Secretary Blinken also stated in an interview with U.K.'s Sky News the day before that when asked if Ukraine's use of long-range weapons was ruled out, "It is not ruled out."
