The number of COVID-19 patients peaked at 1,464 in the third week of August, then slightly decreased to 1,163 in the fourth week and 837 in the final week. However, there is a high possibility of re-spreading after the Chuseok holiday due to increased movement.
In particular, since August, when the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients sharply increased, the demand for self-test kits surged, causing shortages. The district allocated an emergency budget of 50 million KRW to proactively secure self-test kits.
On the 6th, the district completed distribution of the secured self-test kits to 18,385 low-income vulnerable individuals across 22 neighborhoods. Additionally, 19,000 self-test kits and over 24,000 protective items such as masks and hand sanitizers were distributed to 35 infection-vulnerable facilities.
To intensively manage the spread of infectious diseases caused by visitors before the Chuseok holiday, special quarantine measures will be implemented until the 11th targeting eight elderly nursing facilities and four nursing hospitals.
Meanwhile, the district, in cooperation with SR Co., Ltd., will conduct a COVID-19 prevention campaign at SRT Suseo Station from 2 PM to 4 PM on the 13th. The campaign will promote infectious disease prevention guidelines and distribute prevention supplies to SRT passengers heading home for the holidays and local residents.
