This workshop served as a venue to announce the latest trends in artificial intelligence (AI) technology and the research achievements of the UNIST Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence. Fourteen participants attended, including renowned scholars from the University of Oxford and the University of Birmingham in the UK, AI experts from HD Hyundai, and UNIST professors. They discussed the impact of AI technology advancement on industry and daily life.


Participants gathered at UNIST listened to lectures from international scholars and experienced AI technology firsthand at booths set up by companies and the Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence. Poster presentations (research achievements) were also held, allowing for exploration of AI technology from various perspectives.


In his welcoming speech, Shim Jaeyoung, Dean of the Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence, said, "As AI technology is rapidly advancing, this workshop is an important opportunity to share achievements from the past five years and seek new research directions."


Following this, UNIST professors presented outstanding papers, and HD Hyundai held a corporate seminar. Poster presentations prepared by students encouraged discussion, and special lectures by international scholars drew significant attention.


In the special lectures, Professor Jang Hyeongjin of the University of Birmingham and Professor Victor Prisacariu of the University of Oxford presented on human-centered vision AI and AR technology. In the seminar with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, team leaders Jung Chunhwan, Lee Jaehee, and Han Daeyong discussed ways to integrate AI technology into industry.


The Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence also showcased outstanding research achievements published in world-renowned AI conferences and journals by professors Joo Kyungdon, Kim Namhun, and Lee Seulgi. Their presentations on the impact of AI technology on industrial innovation garnered attention.


The 'UNIST Artificial Intelligence Technology Open Workshop' marks its fourth year this year. It was launched in 2021 to foster the local AI innovation ecosystem and accelerate industrial innovation.
