Brothers Sentenced to Prison for Manufacturing and Selling 1.4 Million Fake Viagra Pills
Brothers who manufactured and sold fake erectile dysfunction drugs were sentenced to prison.
On the 9th, Judge Seong Jun-gyu of the Criminal Division 10 at the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Mr. A (63), who was indicted for violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, to 2 years in prison, and Mr. B to 1 year and 6 months in prison with a 3-year probation.
The brothers are accused of manufacturing and selling counterfeit Viagra for three years from September 2020 to November 2023. The total number of illegal drugs they produced was 1,467,472 tablets, of which 441,000 were Viagra.
They established a manufacturing plant in a sparsely populated farming area and produced 14 types of fake erectile dysfunction drugs. The factory was equipped with all production facilities, including raw material mixers, tablet presses, and tablet coating machines. The court confiscated the land owned by them that was used as the manufacturing plant.

The court stated the sentencing reason, saying, "Some of the drugs manufactured by the defendants can cause serious diseases such as myocardial infarction if misused," and "They posed a very great risk to public health."
