Ministry of Environment Dispatches 'Public-Private Joint Green Order Support Team' to Qatar and Oman
"Supporting Domestic Green Companies' Entry into the Middle East Market"
On the 8th, the Ministry of Environment announced that it has dispatched the 'Public-Private Team Green Industry Order Support Group' to Qatar and Oman.
The support group was formed to introduce Korea's green technologies and industries to the governments of Qatar and Oman and to lay the groundwork for Korean companies to enter the Middle Eastern market. The group plans to actively promote the excellence of Korea's renewable energy, green hydrogen, wastewater treatment, and seawater desalination technologies.
From today until the 10th, the support group will meet with officials from Qatar's Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Municipality and Environment, and the Electricity and Water Authority to discuss cooperation plans for carbon neutrality and green transition between the two countries. They will also hold a green industry technology briefing to introduce green technologies applicable to Qatar. Companies plan to hold export consultations with various overseas buyers.
Afterwards, the group will move to Oman and hold meetings with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and the Public Authority for Water Resources Development until the 13th to discuss local market entry strategies for domestic companies. The support group will introduce domestic companies' green hydrogen, information and communication technology-based water resource management, and desalination technologies.
The support group was led by the Ministry of Environment, with participation from the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and the Korea Water Resources Corporation. On the private sector side, the Korea Water Industry Council, Global Sea, Doosan Enerbility, Samsung C&T, and GS Engineering & Construction were included.

Jung Hwan-jin, Director of the Ministry of Environment’s Global Top Green Industry Promotion Team, stated, “The Middle East is one of the strategic key regions for overseas expansion of green industries due to high demand in the green transition sector in the decarbonization era. We will do our best at the government level to support excellent domestic green technology companies to enter the Middle Eastern market and broaden the horizon of Korea’s green industry.”
