Shinsegae Centum City Hosts 'COLLECTIBLES: Embracing Tastes in Space' Across Generations and Genres
Shinsegae Centum City has hosted an exhibition where visitors can create a space filled with their own unique tastes.
'COLLECTIBLES' refers not just to simply gathering objects, but to 'items worth collecting,' such as old coins, furniture, and artworks.
As a culture that respects diverse personalities and enjoys unique tastes has become widespread, this exhibition provides an opportunity to encounter artworks, vintage furniture, art posters, and goods that fully represent one's own preferences, moving away from collecting works just to follow trends.
'COLLECTIBLES: Filling Spaces with Taste' features over 200 pieces, including paintings, drawings, and three-dimensional works by 25 artists, presented in collaboration with seven major and rising galleries in Busan. These works transcend eras and represent a wide range of tastes both in content and form.
Coinciding with the global art fair Frieze Seoul season, visitors can explore an art market and vintage furniture shop in Busan, where they can find and collect artworks that match their artistic preferences.
This exhibition offers a chance to encounter various aspects of contemporary daily life, such as the intersection of virtual and real, relationships and communication, trust and understanding, as well as deficiency and anxiety.
Additionally, each gallery presents collections of art, design, and craft works in the form of showrooms and art shops. A 'Kids Gallery' section is also available for families with infants, children, and young visitors, who make up a significant portion of the Centum City location's audience.
Shinsegae Gallery curator Park Kyungin said, "I hope this exhibition will inspire visitors to find what they love, add their own tastes to their spaces, and form a culture of sharing and exchanging with those around them."
This exhibition will be open at the Shinsegae Centum City 6th floor gallery until the 20th of next month.
