Remodeling of Gyeonggi Provincial Government Old Building 'Outline'... GH Completes Architectural Planning
Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) has completed the 'architectural planning' for the office environment improvement project of the old and new buildings of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office in Suwon.
Architectural planning involves the basic conceptualization before building design, including ▲building layout ▲key points of space utilization and facility planning ▲future facility operation and utilization plans ▲prediction and minimization measures for hazards in safety and environmental fields.
The Gyeonggi Public Construction Support Center announced on the 4th that it has completed the architectural planning work for the 'Office Environment Improvement Project of the Old and New Buildings of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office,' one of the pilot projects for architectural planning agency services started in March to improve the quality of public construction and architectural projects.
GH explained that when architectural planning is carried out by the Public Construction Support Center instead of the ordering departments of Gyeonggi Province and local governments, prior review is exempted under the 'Architectural Service Industry Promotion Act,' shortening the project period by more than two months.
The office environment improvement project for the old and new buildings of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office is a remodeling project of the old and new buildings in Paldal-gu, Suwon, with a total floor area of 10,876㎡ and four floors, investing 15.1 billion KRW, scheduled to be completed by 2026.
After a design competition in October, construction will begin in July 2025.
The 'Old Building of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office,' a modern cultural heritage, will preserve the exterior of the old office as much as possible and be reborn as a safe and comfortable building through asbestos removal inside, seismic reinforcement, and renovation work.
After completion, 19 departments and institutions for residents, including the Gyeonggi Metropolitan Dementia Center, will move in.
Kim Seyong, President of GH, explained, "Through the renovation of the 'Old and New Buildings of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office,' we aimed to realize the value of architectural cultural heritage while designing and creating an office environment that meets appropriate levels of dignity and reasonable standards, which led to the architectural planning."
