Expressing Expectations for the Right Person to Lead Labor-Management Cooperation
The Chairman of the Gwangju Urban Corporation Labor Union (Chairman Shin Daeyong) and the labor directors (Han Gyesuk and Jeong Seokjin) issued a statement on the 3rd at the corporation's labor union office, expressing their welcome for candidate Kim Seungnam, who has been nominated as the 12th president.
They stated, "As the head of Gwangju's largest public enterprise, we expect him to effectively fulfill the role of the Urban Corporation president with abundant experience and expertise to harmonize public interest and profitability, as well as communication skills with both central and local governments, which are essential to overcoming the various challenges currently faced by the corporation."
Regarding some concerns about a lack of expertise in development projects, they said, "He possesses diverse experience in national affairs and a broad personal network, which we believe will demonstrate professionalism and problem-solving abilities in managing a public enterprise." They also evaluated him as "especially well-suited to lead key projects for fostering Gwangju's core industries linked to advanced future industries such as future mobility, AI, and bio under the 8th local government administration."
Labor Union Chairman Shin Daeyong expressed, "Looking at the major career achievements of former National Assembly member Kim Seungnam, we have high expectations that he is the right person to lead labor-management coexistence, and we believe that after his inauguration, he will contribute to establishing a more advanced labor-management culture and improving the welfare of union members through labor-management harmony."
Nominee Kim previously served as a member of the 19th and 21st National Assembly, senior secretary-general of the Democratic Party, chairman of the Jeonnam Provincial Party of the Democratic Party, and head of the corporate support division at Gwangju Technopark.
