Actor Im Si-wan to Star in Netflix's 'Gilboksun' Spin-off 'Samagwi'
Following 'The Outlaws,' Director Byun Sung-hyun Collaborates Again
Online video service (OTT) Netflix announced on the 2nd that it will produce the spin-off film "Samagwi" from the movie "Gilboksun."
Director Byun Sung-hyun, who directed the films "The Merciless" (2015), "Kingmaker" (2022), and the Netflix movie "Gilboksun" (2023), participated in the screenplay of "Samagwi," and director Lee Tae-sung, who was the assistant director of "Gilboksun," will make his directorial debut. The production is handled by Seed Film, which produced "Kingmaker" and "Gilboksun."
"Samagwi" depicts the confrontation for the top spot between Samagwi, a hitman who returns after a long vacation in a world where all rules have collapsed, his trainee and rival Jae-i, and the retired legendary hitman Dok-go. It is produced as a spin-off sharing the hitman world of "Gilboksun."

Actor Im Si-wan plays the protagonist Samagwi. He is the character mentioned by Cha Min-gyu (played by Sol Kyung-gu) in "Gilboksun" as having "gone on vacation." This marks his second collaboration with director Byun, following "The Merciless." Park Gyu-young plays Jae-i, Samagwi's longtime friend, and Jo Woo-jin portrays the retired hitman Dok-go.
