Prosecution Seeks 8-Year Prison Sentence for No So-young's Former Secretary Embezzling 2.1 Billion Won
The prosecution requested an 8-year prison sentence for Lee Mo (34), who was arrested and indicted on charges of embezzling over 2.1 billion won while working as a secretary to No So-young, director of Art Center Nabi.
On the 30th, at the sentencing hearing held at the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 11 (Presiding Judge Bae Seong-jung) for Lee's case involving violations of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (fraud), forgery of private documents, and other charges, the prosecution requested the court to impose the sentence, stating, "The crime is very serious and the nature of the offense is extremely bad."
The prosecution pointed out, "The defendant claims that some damages were recovered through the transfer of a 600 million won lease deposit claim, but 400 million won of that was paid through a lease loan, so only 200 million won can actually be repaid." On the other hand, Lee's defense attorney argued, "According to our calculations, the remaining amount to be repaid is about 1.6 to 1.7 billion won," and added, "There are plans to repay the rest around the Chuseok holiday."
No director's representative stated, "During the inspection process after the indictment, additional damages were discovered and are under investigation, so we want to ask whether the defendant has a sincere intention to reflect on his actions," and added, "It is unclear what actions the defendant took in the past while infringing on the victim's personal information."
