Xi Jinping Meets US Sullivan, Calls for "Solidarity and Coordination, Not Division"
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Jake Sullivan, the United States National Security Advisor, in Beijing on the 29th, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Xi emphasized at the meeting, "In such a changing and turbulent world, countries need solidarity and coordination rather than division or confrontation," adding, "People desire openness and progress, not exclusion or regression." He continued, "As two major countries, China and the United States must take responsibility for history, their peoples, and the world, becoming a source of stability for world peace and a main force for common development."
He stressed, "Although significant changes have occurred in the bilateral and China-US relations, China's determination toward the goal of a stable, healthy, and sustainable China-US relationship remains unchanged. The principles of handling the relationship based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation remain unchanged. Our stance on firmly safeguarding sovereignty, security, and development interests remains unchanged, as does our effort to advance the traditional friendship between the peoples of China and the United States."
