The employees toured Hanwha Ocean Ecotech, inspected the Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority’s PR center and the port, experiencing various sites firsthand.
The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone is developing a total area of 57.08㎢ across six districts and 17 complexes, covering Jeollanam-do’s Yeosu, Suncheon, Gwangyang cities, and Gyeongsangnam-do’s Hadong County.
Since its establishment in 2004, over 20 years, it has attracted investments of approximately 25.8 trillion KRW from 473 companies and created about 50,000 jobs.
Currently, aiming to leap forward as a hub for future industries and marine tourism, it is focusing on developing advanced industries such as building a secondary battery industry cluster.
New employees who participated in the tour expressed, "Seeing the development site where a barren field is transforming into an industrial complex with our own eyes gave us pride in contributing as members of the GFEZ Authority to creating representative industrial complexes in Jeollanam-do and Gyeongsangnam-do."
A GFEZ Authority official stated, "Through the on-site tour, employees were able to gain vivid experience of the field and improve their understanding of their work," adding, "We will continue to do our best to strengthen employees’ capabilities."
