Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has finally completed the final construction approval, unveiling the ‘Daehak-dong Youth Safe Housing’ to residents after 2 years and 10 months since groundbreaking.
Daehak-dong Youth Safe Housing (Daehak-dong 1747) is a mixed-use building consisting of residential units, commercial spaces, and youth vitality areas, with a total floor area of 32,088㎡ spanning from 4 basement levels to 16 floors above ground.
The housing will provide a total of 413 units, including 89 public rental units and 324 private rental units, with various sizes ranging from 6 pyeong to 16 pyeong.
Additionally, the public facilities on the 1st and 2nd floors above ground will relocate the nearby Gwanak Youth Cultural Space, ‘Sillim-dong Three Room,’ and the district plans to support youth activities by providing space and programs in this area.
Notably, Daehak-dong Youth Safe Housing is conveniently located just a 7-minute walk from Seoul National University Venture Town Station (Sillim Line), offering easy access to public transportation. Most importantly, it offers rent benefits at 30% to 85% below market rates, allowing residents to stay for up to 10 years, significantly reducing economic burdens.
Accordingly, the district expects this housing to be highly popular among young households without homes and newlyweds who frequently commute and have limited disposable income.
The 89 public rental units were fully recruited in April this year, and recruitment for private rental units will be conducted later.
Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, stated, “The successful completion of the Daehak-dong Youth Safe Housing project has greatly contributed to alleviating the housing difficulties and stabilizing the living conditions of young single-person households concentrated in Gwanak-gu. We will continue to provide unwavering support to ensure the project proceeds actively and smoothly.”
