“Expansion of Chestnut and Jujube Supply” Korea Forest Service Strives to Stabilize Forest Product Supply Before Chuseok
The Korea Forest Service will increase the supply of forest products such as chestnuts and jujubes, which are popular items during Chuseok.
On the 28th, the Korea Forest Service announced that it will operate the "Chuseok Forest Products Supply Stabilization Task Force" until the 13th of next month to ensure a stable supply of forest products before the holiday.
During the operation period, the task force will monitor the price trends and supply status of forest products daily. Starting two weeks before Chuseok, when demand for popular items temporarily surges, the supply of chestnuts will be increased by four times and jujubes by seventeen times compared to usual.
Additionally, an online promotional event for forest products will be held to help consumers easily purchase these items. The forest product specialty shopping mall "Pureun Jangteo," operated by the Korea Federation of Forest Cooperatives, will offer up to 30% discounts on special Chuseok gift sets. The same discount will be available at 12 forest cooperative forest product stores nationwide.
The forest cooperative forest product stores operate in Seoul (Central Office), Gapyeong, Yangju, Ganghwa, Wonju, Cheorwon, Jeongseon, Samcheok, Gongju, Muju, Namwon, and Gochang (regional cooperatives).
Discount benefits will also be provided at the forest product brand stores operated on Naver Shopping and Korea Post Shopping before Chuseok.
In preparation for the expected surge in visitors during the Chuseok holiday, the Korea Forest Service will conduct special safety inspections of 46 national natural recreation forests nationwide from the 4th to the 11th of next month, and all national natural recreation forests will be open free of charge from the 16th to the 18th.
