Park Jong-bok, President of SC First Bank, to Retire After Completing Term in January Next Year
Serving as an Advisor at SC Jeil Bank After Retirement
SC First Bank announced on the 27th that President Park Jong-bok is scheduled to retire on January 7 next year after completing a total of 10 years in office. After his retirement, President Park will continue to serve as an advisor to SC First Bank.
Park joined Cheil Bank in 1979 and gained over 20 years of frontline business experience as a bank clerk. He held key positions such as Head of the PB Business Division and Head of Retail Banking (Vice President) before being appointed Chairman of SC Financial Group and President of SC First Bank in 2015. Since then, he has led SC First Bank to four consecutive terms, backed by the full trust of the SC Group.
At the time of his appointment in 2015, the bank was operating at a loss, but he turned it profitable within a year by improving organizational efficiency. During his tenure, he organically combined the indigenous brand "Jeil" with the global network strengths of Standard Chartered (SC), establishing SC First Bank as a unique hybrid bank in the domestic financial market.
Additionally, based on his trust in the Korean market, he persuaded the SC Group to participate as a shareholder in Toss Bank.
