LG Electronics Collected Waste Batteries Equivalent to 4 Dump Trucks Weighing 15 Tons Over 3 Years
Resource Circulation Campaign 'Battery Turn' Launched
Accumulated Collection of 69 Tons of Used Batteries
LG Electronics announced on the 27th that it has collected approximately 69 tons of used batteries through its battery resource recycling campaign 'Battery Turn' over the past three years.
Since 2022, LG Electronics has been conducting the 'Battery Turn' campaign twice a year to collect used batteries from cordless vacuum cleaners and recycle rare metals. This campaign is part of LG Electronics' ESG management efforts and is jointly hosted with the Korea Environment Corporation and E-Circular Governance to promote a circular economy.
From May to June this year, the 5th campaign was held, collecting about 17.7 tons of used batteries. Based on the weight of the LG CordZero A9S battery, this amounts to approximately 39,000 units.

The total weight of collected used batteries to date is about 68.9 tons, totaling approximately 153,000 units. Calculated by load capacity, this is equivalent to more than four 15-ton dump trucks. The cumulative number of participating customers exceeds 87,000. LG Electronics explained that the number of participants is increasing with each campaign.
The collected used batteries contain rare metals such as nickel (31.91g), cobalt (4.21g), lithium (6.06g), and manganese (2.04g) per one LG CordZero A9S used battery (450g). The extracted rare metals are recycled as new battery materials.
LG Electronics plans to conduct the 6th Battery Turn campaign in October this year. Customers who wish to participate can return used cordless vacuum cleaner batteries to any LG Electronics service center nationwide, regardless of the manufacturer. Participating customers can receive discounts when purchasing new batteries for CordZero cordless vacuum cleaners.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics donated cordless vacuum cleaners LG CordZero Objet Collection A9S to child welfare facilities using funds raised through the Battery Turn campaign. On the 26th, LG Electronics, Korea Environment Corporation, and E-Circular Governance delivered cordless vacuum cleaners to the Aehyang Child Welfare Center located in Pyeongtaek through the child welfare organization 'Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation.'
