Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong In-hwa) announced that it held the launch ceremony for the ‘2024 Gwangyang Youth Community Revitalization Project’ on the 24th at the multipurpose room of the Gwangyang Youth Dream Center.
As a pre-event, Mayor Jeong In-hwa and the youth took instant photos using the popular photo booth “Insaeng Ne Cut,” and the launch ceremony, held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, proceeded with a mentor lecture by last year’s outstanding youth activist team, community introductions, and exchange and communication sessions.
Mayor Jeong and the youth community discussed various ways to develop Gwangyang into a youth-friendly city. In particular, during the ‘Youth Energy-Up Talk’ session, when the youth shared their concerns, Mayor Jeong offered advice and encouragement, engaging in open and sincere communication.
Mayor Jeong In-hwa, who attended the event, said, “According to recent surveys, one out of two adults feels lonely, and the rate is especially high among the youth.” He added, “The role of the youth community currently holds more important and valuable significance than ever before. I hope that through this activity, you will cultivate a Gwangyang where young people can live joyfully and happily.”
He continued, “Gwangyang City will also listen carefully to the voices of the youth and create better policies.”
Meanwhile, the ‘2024 Gwangyang Youth Community Revitalization Project’ is a program designed to support youth growth as key players in the region. After recruiting local youth communities from May 20 to June 14 and conducting evaluations, a total of 10 teams were selected, taking their first steps this August.
The Gwangyang youth community plans to carry out various projects that will invigorate the local society until the end of this year, including ▲ busking performances and musical activities to revitalize local culture and arts, and activities to inherit traditional culture ▲ planning and operating flea markets for regional revitalization ▲ youth agricultural consulting ▲ and operating youth networking programs.
