Gyeonggi-do Expands Public Management of City Buses... Bidding in 6 Locations Including Yongin and Namyangju
Gyeonggi Province will hold additional bids for public management system city bus routes.
On the 23rd, Gyeonggi Province announced that following the first bid in April, it will proceed with the second bid for converting existing routes to the public management system and the third bid for newly established routes simultaneously.
The Gyeonggi Province-type quasi-public system, the 'City Bus Public Management System Route Bidding Type,' is a limited license method where transportation operators are selected through open competition and operate the routes for a certain period. Currently, Gyeonggi Province operates 56 buses selected through the route bidding method.
Through route bidding, Gyeonggi Province plans to strengthen the public nature of bus operations by ensuring stable operation of unprofitable routes and establishing routes focused on residents.
For additional selections, Gyeonggi Province has completed the request for route bidding to Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation. From August 23 to September 6, the bid announcement will be posted on the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation website, and operators will be recruited. After the bidding process, including proposal evaluation, the final selected transportation operators will sign an implementation agreement and begin operations sequentially.
The second route bidding involves converting eight existing routes to the public management system. The target routes are ▲Yongin City Route 45 ▲Namyangju City Route 115 ▲Paju City Routes 150, 900, 80, 567 ▲Uijeongbu City Route 5 ▲Dongducheon City Route 51.
The third route bidding will establish four new routes considering the opening of the Metropolitan Area Express Railway and connectivity with existing subway stations in Paju City (1 route), Gimpo City (2 routes), and Anseong City (1 route). Gyeonggi Province expects that this route bidding will improve transportation services in areas with public transportation inconveniences.
