The Financial Services Commission announced on the 21st that it will hold a joint recruitment fair for the financial sector at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
Starting in 2017, this fair is now in its 8th year and will feature a record participation of 78 companies, including 14 new participants such as 2 internet-only banks and 5 financial IT companies.
The opening ceremony will be held with the attendance of Yoon Han-hong, Chairman of the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee, Kim Byung-hwan, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, Lee Se-hoon, Senior Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, and representatives from 78 financial institutions. It will be broadcast live on the Financial Services Commission's YouTube channel.
In his opening remarks, Cho Yong-byeong, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Banks, stated, "The financial sector recognizes that creating quality jobs for young people is an important social responsibility of the financial industry, and various efforts are being made to expand youth recruitment." He added, "We hope that young people with creativity and a spirit of convergence, which are essential in the big blur era, will participate in the DNA innovation of the financial industry."
Yoon Han-hong, Chairman of the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee, said, "I expect this fair to be a great opportunity for young people interested in the financial sector as it is the only recruitment fair in Korea specialized in financial sector employment." He also stated, "The National Assembly will actively support the development of the financial industry with trustworthy policies and systems."
Kim Byung-hwan, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, mentioned in his congratulatory speech, "Stable jobs for young people about to enter society are the foundation for realizing future potential and dreams. Through this fair, we will provide as much diverse and abundant employment information and opportunities as possible to young people."
This year’s fair will conduct on-site interviews for young job seekers who passed the preliminary document screening from 12 banks, including one additional bank (Sh Suhyup Bank) compared to last year’s 11 banks. Mock interviews will be conducted by 17 financial public enterprises, and 49 participating organizations will provide recruitment consultations. Additionally, for the first time this year, a ‘Financial Sector Startup Support Counseling Booth’ will be operated to support young entrepreneurs, and a ‘High School Graduate Employment Success Talk Concert’ where current employees who graduated from high school share their employment know-how will be held to provide broader opportunities for youth job creation.
