As a way for employees to participate during their work, LG Uplus encouraged "clearing out old emails." Currently, the company's internal email system handles an average of about 1.216 million sent and received emails daily. Assuming each email is 1MB in size, approximately 1.2TB of email data is exchanged every day.
Old emails and unnecessary files are identified as major causes of increased energy consumption in data centers, so LG Uplus expects this campaign to help reduce carbon emissions. Emails older than three months are automatically deleted.
In addition, LG Uplus is conducting initiatives for employees such as ▲Network Greenhouse Gas Reduction Competition ▲Employee Carbon Neutrality Challenge ▲Single-Use Product Zero Challenge ▲Transition to Eco-Friendly Vehicles.
In particular, by reflecting field opinions such as removing unused or low-efficiency network equipment and consolidating transmission equipment, the company is reducing annual electricity consumption.
