Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Accepts Nominations for Contributions to the Development of Korean Braille
‘Hangul Braille Day’ Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation Award
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is accepting nominations for individuals who have contributed to the development of Korean Braille until the 10th of next month.

View original imageEligible candidates are individuals or organizations who have contributed to enhancing the rights of visually impaired people to use Braille, improving their quality of life, establishing a foundation for the development and preservation of Braille and Braille culture, and promoting the use and dissemination of Braille.
Nomination forms can be submitted by mail or email to the Korea Blind Union. An official stated, “We plan to actively discover contributors working on the front lines, especially in Braille education and the distribution of Braille materials.”
The awardees will be selected through the Korea Blind Union’s screening committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s merit review committee. They will receive a commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on November 4, ‘Korean Braille Day.’

Korean Braille Day commemorates November 4, 1926, when Mr. Park Du-seong of Songam created and announced the six-dot Braille system called ‘Hunmaengjeongeum.’ For more details regarding the nomination form, please refer to the websites of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism or the Korea Blind Union.
