Various Pet-Related Classes Offered... Expect Strengthened Bonds with Companion Animals
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will operate the ‘2024 Jungnang Petiquette Health Class’ from September to November to establish a healthy petiquette culture.
The purpose is to strengthen the bond with pets and establish a healthy petiquette culture through education, as well as to alleviate conflicts between pet owners and non-pet owners.
The curriculum consists of three courses: ▲Pet Agility (a sport involving overcoming obstacles) class ▲Pet Fitness class ▲Pet Handmade Snack class. Through these courses, pet owners and their dogs can build bonds by overcoming obstacles together, learn how to manage stress and alleviate behavioral problems through customized exercise, and receive education on healthy diets for their dogs.
The Pet Agility and Pet Fitness classes are for Jungnang-gu residents who own dogs registered with animal registration, while anyone interested in the education can apply for the Pet Handmade Snack class.
Applications can be submitted by scanning the QR code on the promotional poster and filling out the application form or by phone through the ‘KKA Korea Agility Association’. The application period is from August 26 to September 6, and the total number of participants is 168.
The education will be held at different locations depending on the course. Pet Agility will take place at Yongma Waterfall Park Pet Family Shelter (250-12 Yongmasan-ro), Pet Fitness at Dasisarangbakgae (529 Yongmasan-ro, 4th floor), and the Pet Handmade Snack class at Jungnang Cooking Studio (190 Bonghwasan-ro, Jungnang-gu Office 2nd Building, 10th floor).
The district plans to provide petiquette guidance and education to participants to minimize conflicts among neighbors and establish a petiquette culture that everyone can empathize with.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope this education will increase intimacy with pets and take care of their health,” adding, “I expect a mature pet culture where pet owners and non-pet owners understand and respect each other to take root.”

On July 31, the district installed dog waiting areas (leash holders) at the restrooms in Bongsudae Park and Jungnang Rose Park. This was to reduce the inconvenience caused when pet owners walking their dogs have nowhere to leave their dogs while using public restrooms and to ease the anxiety of other residents using the restrooms. The district plans to continue efforts like this to further spread a culture of coexistence with pets.
